Classic Dining Table Revamp

As I type there’s an infant attached to my boob so just a quick one today :-)

I’ve had this boring pink-limed dining table for ages and finally got around to giving it a simple yet effective make-over. I originally picked it up for $10 off eBay.

I wanted to give it it a sleek classic feel so painted the base with satin black acrylic then sealed it with clear acrylic poly.

To give the top more character, after sanding it back to raw, I stained it walnut and added horizontal score lines to resemble planks. You can read my tutorial for that in this previous post.

For a sleek and durable finish I then sealed the top with three coats of timber floor polish.

Along with being tough, floor polish is super shiny and always tends to add a little ‘wow’.

And for those who are interested; fifteen weeks old now!

Love the table but that baby is even MORE of a love! They are both perfect! I remember those days when I felt I was nothing more than a boob with a Mom(me) attached to it!;>) xo Diana

  3. Kristine, the table turned out fantastic! I just refinished a round drop-leaf table similar to this (except I distressed the black), it’s such a classic look.

Good Lord! How did you find the time to do even a “simple” makeover?

    O_O

The table’s terrific, but I like that 15 month old project the best!!

  6. Oh I love the little bonnet on your sweet baby! The table is gorgeous, I love that you added the score lines. Beautiful work, I hope you didn’t have a baby attached to your boob while you did the project! Having nursed twins though, it is kind of amazing what you can do while feeding a baby (s). I learned multi-tasking was survival.

I host a linky party every Friday, I would LOVE it if you would hop over and link up with me. Have a lovely weekend! -K

  7. I get all giddy whenever I see that you posted:-) I know how it goes with having the little one attached to you. It goes by SOOO Fast! With each one I treasure it a little more!

Kristine, this table is amazing! Amazing finish and amazing you did that. I could hardly use a remote control when I had a baby that young. And we’re ALL interested in that beautiful little girl! This sounds odd, but when she gets older you’ll understand–the days can drag on and seem never ending, but years go by so quickly! Enjoy her every minute–it’s easy to forget!

  11. Love your table and your sweet baby girl is just precious :)

I am coming out of the anonymous shadows that just read your blog and admire the things you do just to say that 1) Your baby is GORGEOUS! My little boy is now 13 months and I have forgotten how little he was at that age (so enjoy every second and delay the taking over the world (I had similar dreams but they have stalled for now;))just a little longer to enjoy…2) I love all your make overs, simple elegant and I laugh because it’s all very similar to mine (only I like to add a coastal twist – love the coffee table!)3)The whole thing of having a baby attached as you type all I can say is lol!
Thank you for your blog and I might just buy something from your store (depending where you are located – hubby doesn’t like to travel far for pick ups)

Thankyou for sharing, it’s nice to be inspired and the eye candy i.e furniture is just wonderful.
