Guest Book

Have something you’d like to say?

Sometimes a comment might not apply to a particular post, or perhaps you just want to ask a quick question or simply say ‘hi’.

I created this Guest Book for just that reason.

It sure would be lonesome here all on my own so please feel free to leave a virtual note knowing it is truly appreciated.

Along with being published here, all Guest Book entries are sent directly to my inbox so I do read (and try to respond) to them all.

I saw the Pin on Pinterest about using decals that you designed and printed and I clicked on your blog. Thank you so much for this very informative post and friendly blog. It was so clear and the process just laid out so professionally. I really appreciate the fact that you have shared this with us.

  15. Judy Cole says:

    Dear Kristine:

Love your idea of the decals….do you have any for TEA or COFFEE? Thank you for your prompt attention to this request.
    Fond regards

    • Hi Judy
Yes, I do have tea and coffee. You can find them in the downloadable PDF file (on the second page). The PDF is at the end of the blog post (here) in the ‘At a Glance’ section.

  16. Christina says:

I’m enjoying my Saturday morning coffee and discovering your blog. We built a house and have been in it over a year but I can’t seem to decorate it and make it “homey”. Your pictures might be the push I need. Look forward to more visits.

    • Thanks Christina. I think a lot of the time accessories are the key to creating that homey feel. I’m sure you’ll get there. We’ve been in our house for a few years now and it took me more than a year to start making it into our home. And we still have a long way to go (haven’t even touched the kitchen or bathroom yet!).

  17. Ellie says:

    Hi Kristine,
I found your blog via Pinterest and I have devoured every single post over the past few days.
My husband and I are renovating our first home too: a Victorian mid-terrace in the UK. Your blog has given me so much inspiration for our current living room project, I love all your furniture transformations and now have some great plans for a couple of charity shop finds.

    • Thanks for your message Ellie :)
I must admit, I kinda cringe a bit when I hear that someone has been going through my older posts. I just feel like my photography and tutorials have improved so much since those early days. Still, it’s nice to embrace the path that has lead me to where I am now.
I’m honestly stoked that you’ve found inspiration in what I’ve shared through my little blog. Makes me happy and helps keep me motivated. I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know.

    Hi Kristine,
I’m calling from Italy and I came over you through HOUZZ.
I gave just a quick look to your blog and i liked it very much. I like the spirit, the purpose: having a nice home without spending a fortune toghether with gaining the satisfaction to obtain it by yourself.
I ‘ m with you . I follow the same spirit and purpose in my home and you are a wonderful source of inspiration! Bye!

    • Hi Mikea
Thanks so much for your lovely message all the way from Italy! It’s always so nice hearing from a reader who shares my spirit of living beautifully (and practically) on a budget.

  30. Sam Franklin says:

I just stubbled on your lovely blog. I must say it looks really great, I really like the content and it’s easy to navigate too. I’ve saved you in my favourites as I definitely will be back with a coffee in hand to browse a little more.

    • Thanks so much Sam. I designed the site myself so it’s nice to hear you find it easy to navigate and great to look at :)
You did a beautiful job renovating your huisje. I love the painted brick!

  31. I like your style very cute. The decals caught my attention.

  32. Janice says:

I loved your post on dining music stand to lamp. Saw one yesterday similar to but was $300.00 dollars at antique store, wanted it so BADbut not in the budget but now even if I can’t find a music stand I can buy a new one still cheaper. I live in ABQ, new mexico. Beautiful here with some snow on mountain tops. This is my first year here so budget is real tight will have more fun making my own stuff .

    • Yikes, $300 for an old tripod stand sounds pricey. I’m sure you’ll be able to find a much cheaper one. Have fun with your projects :)

  33. Gogie kriegsmann says:

Hi!. I am so glad to have found your website. I am looking to monogram some fine quality wood paddle hairbrushes for my grandaughters and am desparateto find monogrammed decals. Would you consider making them prior to christmas? So far i can only find labels, which really dont do the dream job i had hoped for.
I have 6 decals to do in dark green on clear. All of course are different letters, but hey shall all share the same desig. So, i thank you for your time and creativity and wish you much merriment and joy in the coming days. Looking forward to hearing from you.

    • Hi Gogie
I really wish I could help though I doubt I could have the custom decals to you by Christmas. I’m guessing you’re in the US? Standard postage from Australia takes around two weeks though probably longer at this time of year. I could send express though it is really expensive (around $30 – $40). Have you looked on Etsy? I’m sure a creative seller on there would be able to help you with some custom monogram decals or vinyl.
Sorry I can’t help. I hope you find a solution and have a great Christmas.

  34. Joan Garner says:

Hello Kristine – I am an English grandma, 72 years old (“nana” to Emily 21, Oliver 17, Freja, 8 and Odin 6). I became an adult in the 60s and like to think that we baby boomers (are we called that in North America?) have open minds and open hearts. I love your style (WANT your leather sofa NOW!) and look forward to following you. Kind regards, Joan

    • Joan Garner says:

So Sorry!!! Now realise you are in Australia, NOT America! Please forgive!!

    • Yes Joan, adults of the 60’s are known as “baby boomers” here in Oz too! And no need to apologise regarding missing my locale, I’m forever guessing – and failing – at where people I “meet” online are based!
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a lovely message in my guest book. It’s always so nice knowing a bit about the people who visit me. And now if I wake up one morning and a sofa of mine is missing I guess I know where to start looking :)

  35. Margo says:

    Hi Kristine,
You have SERIOUSLY good taste. Your home is beautiful because it is REAL and loved, I can see that. Well done

    • Thanks so much Margo. What a lovely thing to say. Your uplifting message will go into my arsenal for countering my husband’s spoken doubts about the appearance or practicality of any of my future decorating decisions – LOL :)

  36. Jane says:

    Love your posts

    • Thank you Jane :) The perfect short and sweet message to put a smile on my face.

  37. Jamie says:

Hi I’m Jamie and I recently started blog. It started of with us buying a handyman special house in hopes of giving our family a home. The work that needed to be done was more than we thought and since we didn’t really have the kind of money needed to have it renovated we started fixing it up on our own. We are new to both blogging and home improvement so any tips you might have would be helpful and thank you soon much for pinning some of my pins on Pinterest.😃

    • Good luck Jamie! If you ever have any questions feel free to ask :)

  38. sarah says:

Hi there, I am currently doing up my Edwardian house on a tiny budget, and always looking for inspiration. Seems I have found it here! So far I have done the master bed, and the living room. The kitchen is on my hit list for this year……. Choices, choices, so many choices to make. I think I have settled on something,, only to change my mind the next hour! Now if I can teach myself carpentry…

    • Ha, ha. Yes, decisions are the hardest! We’re still yet to touch our dated kitchen so good luck to you :) So glad you’ve found some inspiration among my blog pages.

Can I ask, was it a recent email from Country Living? I wasn’t aware of being featured.
      Thank you again.

      • Dolores says:

They were showing ways to organize your kitchen and other rooms and showed pictures of your organizing labels, with a link to your website.

    • Gee, thanks so much Laura. What a lovely comment. So glad you’ve found my blog helpful and enjoyable.
It’s little messages like yours that motivate me to keep doing my bestest.

  47. Riverbankannie says:

Your site is terrific, have just spent a happy hour browsing. You are very talented and inspirational. I want to transform my repro mahogany corner cupboard but finding it easier to sit on sofa with my feet up looking for ideas rather than just doing it.

    • Ha, ha. Browsing for ideas can sometimes be the hard part – there are just so many it can make narrowing down an avenue of attack tricky.
Thanks for your lovely comment and good luck when you decide to start the refurb :)

  48. Dear Kristine, I am a grandmother , too old and too young…i loved to read about you, you remind me so much of myself as a young mother, with young family, and not a very big budget. I used to do almost everything concerning crafts, for our home, toys for the kids, and handmade presents. If you could read Hebrew, i would write to you much more, as English is not my mother tongue.I become a little lazy to write in Bad English with no speling corrections. I am an artist, althouh the word Artist is too big for me, but i don’t know how to describe what I do any other way. One of my granddaugters told me about pinterest, she knew that i will fall for it. Reading about you was a pleasure, and I will gladly look at your wonderful works og art. Wishing you the very best, Neta Dor Lemelshtrich

  49. I did leave acomment, I am sad and disapointed that it dissapeard. Too tired now to write again,
Love what you wtote, love your blog, a wonderful way to correspond with iteresting people from all over the glob who share same ideas and love art and beauty…
At my age, 1 oclock at night it’s time to stop painting and writing and go to bed. If you like you can visit my site:www., maby you will find something that will interest you, and i will gladly help if i can.
Good night, sweet dreams, hope that those few line will pass throuh…from far away Israel

    • Hi Neta
Your original comment did publish. It was simply moved to the end of the comments list.
Thanks so much for taking the time to write me a message. I did look at your website and think your work is beautiful. You definitely deserve the title of “artist”.
It’s really humbling to hear about how my own stories resonate with people from all over the world. I loved having a little insight into your life too.

  50. Dear Kristine,
Thank you for your fast reply, I did write a longer mail to you, the one you received was the second one. I don’t know why it disappeared. This one will be the third. You are great, it is a superb virtuous that you have, the will to share your talent with all of us, you do it with a lot of enthusiasm. Continue doing your wonderful art, to yourself and continue to share it with others. I hope there will come a day that I will be able to share something that you do not know from my works. Untill now I only have my site in the internet, Maybe you would be interested in creating Ex Libris? you can see them in my site, It is a very very interesting conception.
By the way, I started to paint stones after I saw so many nice and wonderful works, and I enjoy it tremendously, thanks a lot to all the other artists as well. Sometimes I give them as presents to people I like and love, I don’t sell them.
Only one very small tip, I also use transparent “speed dry formula” varnish for nails as the last coat for my painted rocks, and it works beautifully. Through you, I would like to thank all the talented artists who willingly share their ideas with everybody. It is so nice and heart warming. Wishing you and all the artists a lot of satisfaction and joy in your creations. Those things add a lot of adrenaline and joy to people’s lives. Enjoy all of it as much as you can, I still do, in my old age, and my very young heart.
But, I still have to learn how to blog, and how to find the mail address of artists to whom I want to write. I am still an old beginner…
    Be well and happy,
    Neta Dor Lemelshtrich
Thank you for your kind words that you wrote about my works that you have seen at my site

    • Rest assured, your original comment was also published. I simply replied to your second one.
Thank you so much for your lovely words and for sharing some of “you” with me.
