As per my initial brief I want the room to be light, neutral and earthy with a slight eclectic edge.
A predominantly white, cream and taupe palette with lots of natural texture, rustic old timber, chippy paint, some greenery and a few metallic elements should do it!
It can seem a bit depressing to compile a whole heap of really cool images in a mood board knowing you’ll never actually have the exact pieces (like that awesome apothecary chest and brass lamp…in my dreams!) so it pays to remember it’s the overall feel of the board that counts. The amount of hard work you invest in creating your room through resourcefulness and good ol’ fashion elbow grease is where the true reward lies.
So, I am slowly getting there – darn that pesky day job – and promise to keep you guys in the know all along the way.
Can’t wait to see the final result! Your style is impeccable, love it.
Hurry-Hurry-Hurry-You know how impatient I am! lol I can’t wait to see how close you come to your “inspiration room”. Whatever it is~ I am sure it will be wonderful Diana
I love the lines of that pieces, too.
I’m curious to see the finished room! The vignette is so pretty, I know the rest will be fantastic!
It will be nice. I understand how hard it is to make “ugly” ducklings into our dream board. My room is almost exactly the same shape and set up as your room. Only difference is I don’t have the angle of that one wall, it is just straight but the door is in the same place. I look forward to seeing how it turns out! I think I am going to make a mood board to help my planning along!!
Oh I know it is going to be just fabulous. Hugs, Marty
I really like the mood board and can see how the feel of it can carry over into your room without being the exact pieces. I love those colours/neutrals too. That is actually the feel I am going for in our living room, well, with a large brown leather couch instead of the bed ;)
Ok… forget that pesky day job – have a lovely holiday in New Zealand… great accommodation at very reasonable rates – (in need of a little work and a mood board or seven) Bring your paint brush, scrapers, sandpaper…. ! Interested?! I am loving your drip feed posts!
I can just tell it is going to be fabulous! I just love the little sneak peek – that mirror is beautiful! I also really like the little cabinet in the lower right of your montage :)
oooh i can’t wait for this to come together! it’s going to be so charming, cozy, and so you!
Hi Kristine, what a tease you are! It all looks and sounds lovely and I can’t wait to see. A question for you… Do you have a map to go into that gold frame? I was just thinking that I have seen them on one of the blogs. Let me know if you need it and I will try and remember and find which one it was – having a blank at present.
Oh I remember now… It was Amanda – The Vintage Rose (located in Tasmania) http://thevintagerosetasmania.blogspot.com/
She may still have some in her shop?
Looking forward to the end results! Day jobs always get in the way!
Love the palette! The soft greys and whites look so pretty with the natural wood.

Kristine, I already put the post together and will publish it some time next week! I didn’t find those images on your blog, so I just link to you and Remodelaholic. That cabinet is unbelievable, so creative, just love it!!!
Just saw the black cabinet you did at Remodelaholic. I am speechless (and it takes a lot to do that to me!!) Awesome you clever, clever, clever woman (ok, so not completely speechless) :)
Kristine,
These are all so AMAZING!!
I can’t wait to see it all pulled together and the chairs are delightful! I personally love no. 1 but i would like to add the fan to the side table. …really, great work!
I have collected hundreds of vintage oil paintings. The one that you don’t like seems a little bright. You could darken it up a little with a glaze. The frame seems like a good frame, it just doesn’t go very well with the painting. You could make the frame into a mirror, and add a little silvery pewter stuff like Rub n buff to the frame. The oil painting could be hung without the frame if you age it a little. I do love your vingette. My husband would say to me, “what is this string doing here, why don’t you put it away?” Go to Freckled Laundry to see how she duplicated a Restoration Hardware zinc dresser. Ann
I have been traveling all over your blog and love it. Thanks so much. I’ll be visiting often.
